About the Client

Jade and Elise Obsidian Coffee is more than just a coffee brand—it’s a purpose-driven company rooted in social impact. Based in Belmont, NC, they source high-quality Colombian coffee while giving back to the communities that grow it.

The Challenge

Jade & Elise wanted packaging that honored Colombian roots while standing out on crowded café shelves. The brief: bold color, clear variant navigation, and a story customers could feel in 3 seconds or less.

Our Approach

We translated the brand’s mission into a shelf system: a primary hero illustration (Guacamaya + coffee foliage) for recognition, a disciplined grid for labels, and calibrated color for Light/Medium/Dark roast differentiation. We prototyped dielines, tested legibility at arm’s length, and validated color breaks across matte vs. glossy finishes.

What We Delivered

  • Glossy stand-up pouch system (3 roast variants)
  • Keurig-compatible box design
  • Print-ready dielines + press checks (Design in the Label)
  • Packaging usage guide (color, clear space, type, placement)

Results

  • Faster product recognition at point of sale
  • Clearer variant selection (reduced customer confusion)
  • Cohesive look across pouches and boxes
(Add any hard metrics you have: e.g., “+18% sell-through in first 60 days”)

Why It Works

The illustration and color system create instant brand cues, while restrained typography keeps information legible on small surfaces.

To further align with the brand’s mission, we included subtle storytelling cues across the design—like illustrated coffee coffee foliage . The result is packaging that not only looks beautiful on the shelf but also tells a story of purpose, heritage, and transformation—true to the spirit of Jade and Elise Obsidian Coffee.
