About the Client

Jade and Elise Obsidian Coffee is more than just a coffee brand—it’s a purpose-driven company rooted in social impact. Based in Belmont, NC, they source high-quality Colombian coffee while giving back to the communities that grow it.

Objectives

The goal was to design a vibrant, meaningful coffee packaging system with a distinctly Colombian identity. A key creative direction came from the client’s request to incorporate the Guacamaya—a brightly colored bird native to South America and often seen flying over Colombian coffee plantations. The packaging would include:

  • A Glossy Stand-Up Pouch design with three roast variants: Light, Medium, and Dark
  • A Keurig-compatible box with complementary visual style

Our Contribution

We began the creative process with in-depth research on both the Guacamaya and its significance in Colombian ecosystems. Our team combined the majestic bird with rich illustrations of coffee plants to create a visual narrative that feels authentic and uplifting.

To further align with the brand’s mission, we included subtle storytelling cues across the design—like illustrated coffee coffee foliage . The result is packaging that not only looks beautiful on the shelf but also tells a story of purpose, heritage, and transformation—true to the spirit of Jade and Elise Obsidian Coffee.
